The Barrio Cafe in Phoenix is truly a great place to take advantage of freshly prepared Mexican dishes in a welcoming environment. Take your time and savor all the rich and creamy flavors when you dine here. The bar at Barrio Cafe also contains plenty of unique Tequila to wash the food down with. Some sure menu bets at this place include the Mojarra San Agustin, their one of a kind signature Chiles en Nogada and of course the delicious Cochinita Pibil. But, it's with sadness we have to report that as of June of 2024, Barrio Cafe has closed it's door after an amazing 20 year run. They ran their final "Ultimo Adios" event to celebrate the years and put the final chapter to rest. Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza truly put family-run Mexican fare to Phoenix and has set a standard that will not be matched anytime soon. We wish her and owners all the best in retirement and are very thankful for everything they did. Some other memorable dishes we had the pleasure to explore here included their Suizas Enchilada, Grilled Tres Leches, Signature Guacamole, Relleno Vegano, Blanco Tequila, Chicken Mole and more. This spot will surely be missed and was always a great Mexican addition to our listings.
