About
BOULDIN CREEK CAFE

Every once in a while, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives uncovers a place so unique, so vibrant, and so full of heart, it becomes an instant classic. Bouldin Creek Café in Austin, Texas, is that kind of spot — a vegetarian haven that doesn’t just cater to herbivores, but impresses even the most devout carnivores.

Nestled in the funky heart of Austin’s Bouldin neighborhood, this eco-conscious, Bohemian-style café has been serving up scratch-made, meat-free fare since 2000. And trust us — when a vegetarian spot can pull in meat lovers without them even realizing it’s vegetarian, you know the kitchen is doing something very, very right.

Not Just for Vegetarians — Just for Flavor-Lovers

We’re not strict vegans or vegetarians ourselves, but when we walked into Bouldin Creek Café the day after Triple D filmed there in May 2025, we were absolutely blown away. The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the menu? A creative explosion of flavor, color, and texture that didn’t feel “healthy” — it just felt delicious.

That’s what sets Bouldin Creek apart: the food speaks for itself. It’s not about labels or diet restrictions — it’s about flavor first, with thoughtfully crafted dishes that just so happen to be 100% vegetarian and often fully vegan.

Food Made with Soul (and from Scratch)

Owner Leslie has stayed true to her mission from the very beginning: serve high-quality, affordable food that nourishes the body and builds community. Every dish is made from scratch, using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, and it shows in every bite.

The menu is extensive — almost overwhelmingly so — but that’s part of the charm. You’ll find yourself scanning every dish thinking, “Wait, that’s vegan?!”

Menu Highlights That Had Us Hooked

We dove into the El Maximo Breakfast Platter, which comes stacked with tofu scramble, potatoes, house-made veggie chorizo, and avocado — bold flavors, hearty portions, and pure comfort. But we didn’t stop there.

Here are just a few of the standouts we can’t stop talking about:

Potato Leek Omelet – Fluffy, satisfying, and packed with rich flavor.

Walnut Pesto Pasta – Earthy and vibrant with the right touch of creamy indulgence.

Grilled Blueberry Cornbread – A total game-changer: sweet, savory, and perfect with a drizzle of maple syrup.

Vegan Crispy Taco Plate – Crunchy, flavorful, and loaded with plant-based goodness.

Massaman Jackfruit Curry – A Thai-inspired dish that delivers bold spices and slow-cooked tenderness.

Orange Chipotle Guacamole – Smoky, citrusy, and straight-up addictive.

Grilled Cheese con Hierbas – A comfort classic with an herbal twist that we didn’t know we needed.

And don’t even think about skipping dessert. We were floored by the Blueberry-Lavender Pie, Hazelnut Affogato, and the decadent Stuffed Oatmeal Cookie Sandwich — yes, all vegan and all ridiculously good.

Pair it all with one of their signature drinks like the Maple Spice Latte or a handcrafted espresso, and you’ll understand why this place has such a loyal following.

Community at the Core

Beyond the food, what makes Bouldin Creek Café shine is its soul. Leslie’s commitment to community isn’t just talk — it’s action. From generous donations to local causes to providing a welcoming space for artists, musicians, and activists, this café is woven into the cultural fabric of Austin.

Even the vibe inside reflects that ethos — it’s cozy, a little artsy, a little funky, and completely inviting. Whether you're sipping coffee while working on your laptop or sharing plates with friends, it just feels right.

A Must-Visit in Austin

There’s a reason Guy Fieri and the Triple D crew made their way here. Bouldin Creek Café is one of those rare finds that not only serves memorable food but also makes you feel like you’re part of something special. It’s the kind of spot where the food is delicious, the mission is meaningful, and the community is strong.

So whether you're a lifelong vegetarian, a curious foodie, or just someone looking for a killer breakfast or brunch in Austin, don’t miss this place. You might come for the coffee and cornbread — but you’ll stay for the vibe, the values, and that unforgettable flavor. Aired on September 19, 2025
