One of the original eatery staples found in the Keys, Herbie's Bar and Chowder is without hesitation one of the most sought after dining locations in Florida. With over 80 years of service, they originally opened their doors to the public back in the 1940's. Consider that for a minute and ask yourself how many restaurants are you aware of that are still striving after 9 decades of service to the community - not many. When they began so many generations ago, they were originally the Maggie's Chowder House! Then in the 50's it was renamed to Fishnet's Bar and Chowder House and finally in the 60's changed it's name to the final version we have today. The made from scratch, true cooking is what makes this place shine. The service, quality, portions and atmosphere is original and quite unique to anything you'll come across today in the Keys. As they say in their mission statement, it's here where you can Taste the Keys Tradition and we agree. Marathon has many great place to dine, but none compare to the uniqueness of this spot. So many amazing options here include their signature Conch Chowder, Asian Oyster Plate, Conch Fritters, Ahi Tuna Sliders, Shrimp, Scallops, Smoked Buffalo Wings, Burgers and tons more.
