Since 1942, this amazing diner in the heart of Bridgeport is your casual dining spot that will never disappoint. Over the years they have been pioneers in the dining world by setting new standards and features for modern diners. They even included an ice cream parlor in the late 50's, a first of their kind. It's hard to find out what true American Food is all about as many places these days just really have no idea and with so many different cultures and influences throughout the years, true American food has been lost. This is exactly why we are so grateful about the Merritt Canteen as they have stayed true to this culinary history and serve it proudly each day for you. It's all tasty, fresh and in a nut-shell, old-school LEGIT! The definition of comfort food when it was just truly, good old American food.
